During the recent election campaign, the three Haxby and Wigginton candidates enjoyed seeing  the great variety of scarecrows on the scarecrow trail as they went  round the ward.  I particularly enjoyed the fishing scarecrow at Wigginton pond, the water skier and Long John Silver in Haxby. 

I was pleased to hear that the trail raised £4254.40 for work with orphans in Langa Township, Cape Town, South Africa, plus funds for local charities. Thanks go to Haxby Methodist Church for organising it all and I am already looking forward to next year’s event.
