The Mansion House was the setting for the launch of the York and North Yorkshire Credit Union’s new current account.  As a Director and Trustee of the Credit Union, I have been involved in this new initiative and know how important it is for many of our members.  There are many things that you can’t do if you don’t have a bank account; setting Direct Debits is one of them.  Yet it is cheaper to pay for fuel by Direct Debit and money can be saved that way for householders that may be struggling. 

The Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress attended as did the Chair and Vice Chair of North Yorkshire County Council and the Chief Executive of the Credit Union, Mike Horncastle (pictured).  I am very pleased that we at the CU have launched this new facility and hope many members will take it up and thus be able to budget more effectively as a result.
