Haxby Survey Results

by on 3 August, 2010

Recently we have been carrying out a survey around Haxby to find out residents’ views on a number of issues, the survey forms also give you the opportunity to let us know about any issues or problems in the local area.

Many people have raised concerns about speeding on local roads so we have been asking for views on whether or not people would support the use of mobile speed cameras to enforce local speed limits.

The surveys collected so far show that 67% of respondants support the use of mobile speed cameras in the Haxby area.

Discussions are ongoing between the Council and North Yorkshire Police about the possible introduction of mobile speed cameras so we will feed our findings in to these discussions and make sure everybody’s views are taken into account.

We have also been asking about the new recycling boxes being introduced by City of York Council to help sort recycling and keep streets tidier on collection days.

88% of respondents said they would prefer to store their recycling in boxes, rather than the current system of one box and several bags.

Some of you will have received your new boxes over the past few weeks and will have seen the difference the new boxes make by stopping recycling blowing all over the street on windy collection days.

If you haven’t received your box yet yours will be delivered in the second phase of deliveries which take place in September and October. If you want to know exactly when you will receive your new boxes you can find out by visiting the City of York Council website here

All the problems reported to us on the survey forms have been submitted to City of York Council and if you brought an issue to our attention you should receive a direct response from the Council.

We will be carrying out more surveys over the summer so if we haven’t got round to surveying you yet we may be around soon. In the meantime you can report any issues to us via the Report a Problem page.
